Dr. Eduardo Amorim de Assumpção Bastos (Rio de Janeiro, October 11, 1990) is a Portuguese *Fidalgo de Cota de Armas* (nobleman entitled to bear a coat of arms) and a Brazilian anesthesiologist. His background includes medical training alongside an academic trajectory focused on Philosophy and Philosophical Anthropology. He works professionally as an independent anesthesiologist and has experience as both a military physician and a hospital-based anesthesiologist. Alongside his medical career, he pursues studies in Philosophy, Anthropology, and classical thought, with a particular interest in understanding the human person and the formation of personality.

Academic Background

Bastos earned his medical degree from Unigranrio Barra, completing the program between July 2009 and July 2015. Subsequently, he completed a medical residency in Anesthesiology with the Rio de Janeiro City Government from March 2017 to March 2020.

Between 2020 and 2021, he completed a postgraduate program in Pain Medicine at the Albert Einstein Institute. In September 2022, he also began an undergraduate degree in Philosophy at Academia Atlântico – Uningá.

In the field of humanities, he subsequently began a postgraduate program in Applied Philosophy at ICIM – Faculdade Mar Atlântico in September 2023. He is also currently pursuing postgraduate studies in Philosophical Anthropology and in Patristics and Medieval Philosophy, both at IFT – Faculdade Mar Atlântico.

His professional career includes service in the Brazilian Navy, where he worked as a military physician from February 2016 to February 2017. Following his residency in Anesthesiology, he began practicing professionally in the field.

Between January 2022 and January 2023, he worked as an anesthesiologist at Miguel Couto Municipal Hospital. Since March 2021, he has worked as an independent anesthesiologist with AR Anestesiologistas Reunidos. He also currently serves as an assistant professor at a private university's medical school, teaching the course on medical semiology.
