Don Renan Souza Cardenuto, Lord of Solar de Atienza, Mandayona y Villaseca (Florianópolis, October 20, 1988), is a nobleman, professor, philologist, scholar, genealogist, and military reservist. He is the current Head of Name and Arms of the Magnificent and Noble House of Carotenuto in the Kingdom of Naples (Italy); Lord of Solar de Atienza, Mandayona y Villaseca in the Kingdom of Castile (Spain); a Fidalgo (nobleman) of lineage and coat of arms of Portugal; a Ballestero de Hermandad of the Noble Compañía de Hidalgos de San Felipe y Santiago, el menor (Spain); and the current Chancellor of the Association of Brazilian and Portuguese Nobleman.

Recognized in noble circles for his rigorous work in genealogical and heraldic reconstruction, he has dedicated his academic and personal life to preserving the memory, traditions, heraldry, and values ​​of Christendom and historical nobility in Portugal, Spain, France, and Italy.

Biography

Born on the Island of Santa Catarina—cradle of illustrious Azorean and Vicentista families—Don Renan Souza Cardenuto is the son of Don Ricardo Luiz Cardenuto, a Neapolitan nobleman, and Donna Rosilda Maria de Souza, a Portuguese noblewoman. From an early age, he demonstrated a vocation for letters and family history, which led him to an academic career and the study of genealogy as an auxiliary science of history. He is married to Donna Larissa Maccarini Virtuoso, a Portuguese noblewoman, with whom he has a daughter, Donna Maria Antônia Virtuoso Cardenuto—his heir to the rights of blood, honor, and tradition of the House.

 

Academic Background

He holds a degree in Spanish Language and Literature from the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC)—one of Brazil's most prestigious federal higher education institutions—where he focused his studies on Spanish literature and grammar, Romance philology, and applied and historical linguistics.
